Aransas County Area Master's Swimming Club!
We're located in Rockport, Texas, and our facility is a fully-equipped, year-round outdoor heated pool.
We are the first South Texas Area Masters Swimming Club formed in May 2025!
Philosophy
ACAMS Club empowers adult swimmers of all levels—fitness swimmers, competitive athletes, and triathletes—to build lifelong health, community, and performance through structured, inclusive, and inspiring aquatic training. We believe swimming should be accessible, fun, and rewarding, whether you're returning after decades or training for Nationals.
Coach Gen
Genevieve “Gen” Thompson is a certified U.S. Master's Swimming Coach with a strong athletic background. She has completed one sprint triathlon, four Olympic-distance triathlons, three open water swims, and three MS 150 rides, amongst other sports. A dedicated Master's swimmer since 2016, Gen brings both passion and discipline to every aspect of her training and coaching.
In addition to her athletic achievements, Gen is a seasoned entrepreneur and senior executive with over 23 years of leadership experience in the legal, real estate, hospitality, restaurant, retail, and natural channel CPG (consumer packaged goods) food and beverage industries.
Coach Rebecca
All it took was a sink bath as an infant to convince Rebecca Bagby of her need to be a water baby. She honed her negotiating skills working with her mother on how she could get
to swim lessons and pool time. It just took a complete house dusting and vacuuming before the car would leave for pool time. As a result, the family home stayed pristine during
the summer. Completing every swim class offered by The American Red Cross turned into her being certified as a lifeguard at 15, and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) at 16. She paid for college using both certificates until she was 22 and exchanged her swimsuit for a business suit and adulted as an investigative reporter and consumer columnist, defense contractor, and most recently, an area Realtor. In 2011, she re-certified as a WSI, and now it is time to use all those years of lessons, all those years of swimming, all those years of teaching swimming, and parlay it into coaching for the Aransas County Area Masters Swimmers.
Coach Chad
Chad Lee brings decades of experience and passion to the pool, having dedicated much of his life to the sport of swimming. His coaching journey began in the late 1980s on a summer league team in San Antonio, where he quickly developed a love for teaching and developing swimmers of all ages.
A competitive swimmer through 1995, Chad swam at Northeast Louisiana University until shoulder issues led him to transition from athlete to coach. From 1995 to 2000, he served as a certified USA Swimming coach, working with both age group and senior swimmers to refine technique, build endurance, and foster a love for competition.
In 2001 and again around 2012, Chad returned to grassroots coaching as head coach of the Rockport Sharks summer league team, helping young swimmers improve fundamentals in a fun, community-driven environment. A proud Texas A&M alumnus, he also enjoyed playing water polo during his college years, further deepening his aquatic background.
Today, Chad serves as an assistant coach for the Aransas County Area Masters Swim Team, where he brings his experience, patience, and enthusiasm to adult swimmers seeking fitness, competition, or simply a better stroke. With a lifelong connection to the water, Chad is passionate about helping swimmers of all levels reach their goals and looks forward to continuing to coach masters swimmers in the years ahead.
